About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential visual effects studio in London, and our talent team is seeking a Senior Animator to join their Film & Episodic division. This role sits at the creative heart of storytelling, where you'll breathe life into complex three-dimensional characters and photorealistic creatures for large-scale productions. You'll craft nuanced performances ranging from subtle emotional expressions to dynamic action sequences, working alongside award-winning teams who collaborate with leading directors and producers throughout the filmmaking process.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Animation Leads and Supervisors to deliver premium, story-driven animation that enhances pacing and cinematic style
- Animate primary and secondary characters with authentic motion, weight, and personality
- Partner with Rigging and Pipeline teams, providing feedback to refine character setups and improve workflow efficiency
- Manage your production schedule transparently and consistently meet deadlines
- Mentor junior artists, sharing your craft and supporting their professional development
- Respond constructively to creative changes, supervisor notes, and technical feedback
- Ensure every animated element in frame possesses believable physics and soul
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Significant experience animating on large-scale, photorealistic VFX projects
- Showreel demonstrating exceptional creature and character performances
- Deep production knowledge of Maya
- Natural understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, and spatial awareness
- Strong foundation in human and animal anatomy, applied to fantasy creatures and complex locomotion
- Understanding of character rigs, animation pipelines, and data transfer between production tools
- Clear, constructive communication skills and collaborative approach across distributed teams
- Adaptability and calm focus under deadline pressure
Desirable:
- Experience working with, cleaning up, or editing motion capture data
- Traditional background in sketching, life drawing, or classic 2D animation
- Working knowledge of Modelling or basic scripting (Python/MEL) to streamline workflows
