(Senior) Accountant (all genders)

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential e-commerce organization in Berlin. In this senior accounting role, you will take central ownership of financial accounting processes and help drive digitalization of finance operations.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Independently maintaining and managing the general ledger, including review of automatically generated invoices in the ERP system (Odoo)
• Leading monthly closing processes and contributing to annual financial statements under HGB, including timely completion of balance reconciliations, accruals, and provisions
• Preparing VAT advance returns and maintaining ongoing coordination with tax authorities and external tax advisors domestically and internationally
• Managing weekly payment runs and cash management activities including currency purchases
• Serving as the primary point of contact for technical accounting questions in daily operations, conducting regular booking controls, and collaborating across functional teams
• Actively shaping, optimizing, and implementing new internal processes and system functionalities

What We're Looking For

• Completion of commercial training (e.g., tax specialist or accounting) or relevant degree, plus 3–5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in e-commerce
• Strong technical knowledge of HGB accounting standards and comfortable working with ERP systems and Excel
• Experience in direct-to-consumer business models and knowledge of cross-border tax topics (e.g., UK, Switzerland, Poland) is advantageous
• Understanding of online retail specifics such as payment providers, marketplaces, and shipping cost structures
• Structured, proactive, and meticulous working style combined with analytical thinking
• Strong enthusiasm for automation and digitalization of modern finance processes
• Excellent communication skills as a competent partner for internal stakeholders
• German language skills at C2 level, business-fluent English (C1), and residence in Berlin or surrounding area
