Senior Accountant

About This Role

We are representing a confidential client in search of a Senior Accountant to take ownership of core accounting operations, month-end close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This is a fully remote position based in Colombia, working U.S. business hours.

This hands-on role requires someone who understands GAAP, accrual accounting, NetSuite, and full-cycle accounting. You'll maintain accurate, audit-ready financials while identifying opportunities to improve processes as the organization scales. Our talent team is seeking a professional who can work closely with finance leadership, FP&A, operations, and junior accounting team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly close activities, targeting completion within 5–7 business days
• Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, payroll, depreciation, and intercompany transactions
• Maintain trial balances, close checklists, and supporting schedules
• Reconcile cash, AR, AP, deferred revenue, inventory, and fixed assets
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues promptly
• Prepare P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
• Analyze budget vs. actual and forecast vs. actual performance with clear variance commentary
• Prepare documentation and schedules for external audits
• Support tax and compliance requirements while maintaining strong internal controls
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual workflows
• Review work completed by junior accountants and provide mentorship on reconciliations and proper accounting treatment

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 4–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, and financial reporting
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite
• Proven month-end close and reconciliation experience
• Strong financial statement preparation skills
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and financial analysis
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal English communication
• Comfortable working remotely with U.S.-based teams

Preferred qualifications:

• CPA or ACCA certification
• Multi-entity accounting experience
• Foreign currency accounting exposure
• Experience in SaaS, real estate, or professional services industries
• ERP implementation or optimization experience
• Background in accounting automation and process improvement
