AI Governance (Senior) Consultant (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential consulting firm seeking an AI Governance Consultant to join their team in München. In this role, you will:

• Analyze existing governance models and identify optimization opportunities in AI contexts
• Design and implement policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure robust AI governance
• Support clients nationally and internationally in establishing compliance and ethical standards for AI systems
• Coordinate the implementation of governance processes within AI projects
• Assess regulatory requirements and derive measures to ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks
• Document processes and prepare reports to continuously improve governance structures
• Participate in knowledge transfer and team collaboration

At the Senior level, additional responsibilities include:

• Lead complex governance projects with strategic responsibility for implementing modern AI governance frameworks
• Advise organizations on governance, risk, and compliance topics at the enterprise level
• Develop tailored governance strategies aligned with international compliance and ethical standards
• Advise executives and decision-makers on regulatory risks and EU AI Act preparation
• Oversee governance process implementation and initiate continuous improvements in regulated industries
• Support implementation of ISO management systems and conduct information security audits
• Mentor and coach junior consultants
• Lead strategic discussions with stakeholders and prepare decision materials

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Successfully completed university studies
• Initial relevant practical experience through internships or working student positions
• Passion for governance, risk, and compliance topics with solid theoretical foundation
• Basic understanding of how AI models function and interest in their governance and quality assurance
• Motivation to explore frameworks for safe AI use and interest in regulatory environments
• Basic knowledge of information security and audit processes
• Ability to understand complex requirements and translate them into practical measures
• Team-oriented mindset with initiative and openness to feedback
• Strong communication skills in both German and English

Senior level candidates should additionally have:

• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in consulting, auditing, or comparable roles
• Extensive experience in regulation, governance, or risk and compliance
• Solid experience in cross-functional consulting on AI control processes and governance standards throughout the AI lifecycle
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, MaRisk, or EU AI Act (or willingness to develop expertise quickly)
• Auditing experience, particularly in information security; ISO Lead Implementor and/or ISO Auditor certification ideal
• Ability to confidently assess and pragmatically interpret regulatory requirements
• Active team role with focus on professional exchange and developing others
• Confident communication with senior stakeholders in German and English
