Harvard Protection Services is seeking a dedicated Security‑Fire Safety Director‑38356 for a part‑time position located at Franklin D Roosevelt, Manhattan.

About the Role

In this role you will oversee fire safety protocols, coordinate emergency response efforts, and ensure that all security operations align with local fire codes and university safety standards. You will partner with facilities teams, conduct regular inspections, and lead training initiatives that protect occupants and property across the Harvard campus.

What You'll Do

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive fire safety plans for assigned buildings and venues.
• Conduct routine fire drills, evacuation exercises, and safety audits to verify compliance with NFPA and NYC fire regulations.
• Investigate fire alarms, incidents, and near‑misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Supervise and mentor fire safety officers and security staff, providing guidance on emergency procedures and equipment use.
• Collaborate with local fire departments and municipal agencies to coordinate response strategies and stay current on regulatory updates.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and training sessions in accordance with documentation requirements.
• Assist in the selection, testing, and upkeep of fire detection and suppression systems, ensuring optimal functionality.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a fire safety director, fire marshal, or similar leadership role within a large institutional or corporate environment.
• Thorough knowledge of NFPA standards, NYC Fire Code, and OSHA regulations pertaining to fire prevention and emergency management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, develop mitigation plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling clear instruction of safety protocols to diverse audiences.
• Certifications such as Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Fire Inspector I/II, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Ability to work a part‑time schedule while remaining responsive to after‑hours emergencies as needed.
• Proficiency with safety management software and basic MS Office applications for reporting and record‑keeping.
