Research Computing Services Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Research Computing Services Manager to lead their research computing infrastructure operations. This is a remote position based in the United States (OH, FL, or NV), supporting critical biomedical research initiatives through strategic technology leadership.

In this role, you will provide direction, supervision, and technical oversight of non-desktop computing infrastructure supporting research operations. You'll guide lead analysts across Linux server, Windows server, database, storage, and software development teams to ensure computing operations remain efficient, secure, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Manage non-desktop research computing infrastructure across multiple divisions
• Develop and implement standards, policies, and procedures for enterprise servers, storage, and databases
• Support strategic planning for computing infrastructure, anticipating personnel changes and evolving environmental demands
• Plan, schedule, and manage multiple information system projects
• Monitor project adherence to schedule and budget while maintaining quality control oversight
• Compile performance statistics and predict future needs
• Supervise teams responsible for Windows server administration, Linux server administration, data storage and backup, and database administration
• Coordinate department transitions and acquire appropriate tools and equipment
• Work Monday through Friday 8:00am–5:00pm with rotating weekend on-call responsibilities
• Travel up to 5% as needed

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, science, or related field and ten years' IT experience; OR Associate's degree and twelve years' IT experience; OR Master's degree in information systems, science, or related field and seven years' IT experience
• Five years of managerial experience leading an IT group in hardware and software management within a production scientific or corporate environment
• Experience deploying services in cloud-only and/or hybrid cloud environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Healthcare and/or scientific research experience
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, financial services, FDA Part 11, etc.)
• Direct experience managing Windows or Linux-based servers, ideally in high-performance computing contexts
• Expertise in hardware and software infrastructure supporting research operations
• Understanding of Windows and database administration

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods
• Ability to travel throughout facilities as needed
• Ability to operate computers and standard office equipment
