Role Overview
As a clinical nutrition specialist at Prismahealth, you'll assess patient nutritional status, design individualized medical nutrition therapy plans, and monitor outcomes in partnership with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Your work will directly impact patient recovery and long-term health management across our inpatient and clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nutritional assessments and diagnosis for patients with medical and surgical conditions
- Develop evidence-based nutrition care plans tailored to patient-specific clinical needs
- Deliver medical nutrition therapy, counseling, and patient education
- Monitor nutritional outcomes and adjust interventions based on clinical response
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on patient care decisions
- Maintain thorough clinical documentation in the patient medical record
Skills & Qualifications
- Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or food and nutrition science
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program
- Current state licensure or certification per South Carolina requirements
- Strong foundation in medical nutrition therapy and clinical nutrition support
- Excellent patient assessment, communication, and teaching abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment
