Project Engineer – Cloud & Infrastructure

Prime System Solutions is recruiting a Project Engineer - Cloud & Infrastructure to join our remote team, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to lead infrastructure projects and drive cloud transformation across the organisation.

What This Role Involves

As a Project Engineer specialising in Cloud & Infrastructure, you will design, deploy, and oversee scalable cloud environments and infrastructure systems. This role bridges technical expertise with project delivery, ensuring infrastructure projects are executed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards. Your leadership will directly shape how Prime System Solutions scales its technology capabilities and delivers value to clients.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Manage cloud and infrastructure projects from planning through deployment and ongoing optimisation
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and define clear project scope and objectives
• Provision, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure across one or more major platforms
• Monitor infrastructure performance, security posture, and operational costs
• Resolve infrastructure incidents and implement preventative improvements
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure designs and procedures
• Coordinate with development and operations teams to align infrastructure with application needs

Who We're Looking For

• Experience working as a Project Engineer, Senior Infrastructure Engineer, or equivalent role
• Demonstrated expertise with major cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or similar services
• Practical knowledge of infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
• Sound understanding of cloud security, networking architecture, and compliance standards
• Capability to optimise cloud resource utilisation and manage infrastructure spend
• Strong project management abilities and proven track record communicating with diverse stakeholders
• Self-motivated approach to continuous learning and operational excellence
• Competence working autonomously in remote environments whilst maintaining team collaboration
