Position Summary
As a Producer with TEGNA in Tampa, you'll play a central role in editorial decision-making and content assembly. This part-time position offers the opportunity to work at a major broadcast network while contributing to meaningful local journalism. You'll coordinate story selection, manage show rundowns, and ensure seamless broadcast operations that serve the Tampa and Hillsborough County communities.
Core Duties
- Select, prioritize, and sequence news stories for daily broadcast and digital distribution
- Build and refine show rundowns and editorial packages in coordination with anchors and reporters
- Monitor newswire feeds, social media, and community feedback to identify emerging stories
- Communicate with on-air talent, reporters, and technical teams to meet deadlines and production standards
- Review scripts, graphics, and video packages for accuracy and clarity before air
- Manage time-sensitive content to ensure compliance with broadcast regulations and network guidelines
Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in broadcast news production or a closely related field
- Proficiency with newsroom systems and broadcast editing software
- Strong news judgment and understanding of community interests in Tampa, Hillsborough County, and beyond
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under deadline pressure
- Collaborative approach to working with editorial and technical teams
