About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consumer goods company in their search for a Procurement Director to join their team in Berlin. Our client is a fast-scaling European brand experiencing exceptional growth, and they need an exceptional procurement leader to build one of their most important competitive advantages: a world-class supplier ecosystem.

This is a highly strategic leadership position reporting directly to the COO. You will own sourcing strategy across ingredients, packaging, merchandising, and co-manufacturing while continuously improving cost, quality, supplier performance, flexibility, and speed. This role is far more than traditional buying—you will work closely with Product Development, Supply Chain Planning, Operations, Finance, and the leadership team to build supplier partnerships capable of supporting ambitious international growth.

Our client is looking for an exceptional builder with outstanding commercial judgment who enjoys solving complex business problems and creating long-term competitive advantages. If you combine strategic thinking with a hands-on mindset and thrive in fast-paced environments, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement:

  • Own sourcing strategy across ingredients, packaging, merchandising, and co-manufacturing
  • Develop category strategies that improve competitiveness, resilience, and long-term scalability
  • Drive structural cost improvements through strategic sourcing, commercial excellence, and value engineering
  • Identify new sourcing opportunities, technologies, and supplier capabilities to strengthen competitive position

Supplier Partnership Development:

  • Build long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers
  • Develop suppliers across capacity, quality, innovation, flexibility, and operational excellence
  • Ensure suppliers scale alongside ambitious growth plans
  • Establish the organization as a preferred customer through trust, transparency, and professional supplier management
  • Strengthen the supplier ecosystem through selective onboarding and pragmatic multi-sourcing

Supply Chain & Operational Excellence:

  • Improve end-to-end supply chain performance by reducing lead times and increasing supplier responsiveness
  • Partner with Supply Chain Planning and Operations to align supplier capabilities with demand forecasts and inventory targets
  • Improve working capital through stronger commercial terms and optimized replenishment models
  • Support development of a scalable and resilient manufacturing network

Supplier Performance & Quality:

  • Own supplier performance across quality, on-time delivery, responsiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Establish structured supplier business reviews, measurable KPIs, and clear accountability
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply risks before they impact the business
  • Ensure suppliers meet quality, food safety, and regulatory standards

Leadership & Organization Building:

  • Lead and develop Strategic Procurement and Operational Buying teams
  • Build a high-performance organization with strong commercial capabilities and clear ownership
  • Develop future leaders and raise procurement function maturity
  • Build scalable processes, systems, and ways of working that support growth

What We're Looking For

Experience & Expertise:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Consulting, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, or another analytical leadership role
  • Outstanding structured problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex challenges into pragmatic solutions
  • Strong track record of leading and developing teams
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environments where ownership and speed matter
  • Strong commercial judgment and experience negotiating with suppliers, partners, or senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and deliver measurable business impact
  • Experience building scalable processes, organizations, and ways of working
  • Exposure to manufacturing, FMCG, food & beverage, or consumer goods is beneficial but not required
  • Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus but not required)

Mindset & Qualities:

  • You are a builder who enjoys creating structures, teams, and processes from scratch
  • You combine strategic thinking with strong execution skills and are comfortable getting hands-on
  • You have exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities and can quickly structure complex situations
  • You take ownership, move fast, and thrive in environments with high autonomy and ambiguity
  • You build trust easily and can influence suppliers, stakeholders, and teams through strong communication and judgment
  • You are commercially minded and always look for ways to create measurable business impact
