Principal Vulnerability Researcher with Security Clearance

Two Six Technologies is hiring a Principal Vulnerability Researcher with Security Clearance for our Laurel, Prince George's County office. In this full-time position, you'll lead advanced security research initiatives, uncover critical vulnerabilities across complex systems, and drive innovation that strengthens security for our customers and the broader defense community.

About the Role

As a Principal Vulnerability Researcher, you'll operate at the forefront of offensive security research, investigating emerging threats and vulnerability landscapes. Your work combines deep technical analysis with strategic impact—discovering novel vulnerabilities, developing sophisticated exploitation techniques, and translating research findings into products and capabilities that matter. You'll mentor junior researchers, shape our security research strategy, and work directly with engineering and product teams to turn research into real-world solutions.

What You'll Do

• Conduct independent and collaborative vulnerability research across operating systems, applications, network protocols, and embedded systems
• Develop proof-of-concept exploits, document vulnerability mechanics, and demonstrate impact through rigorous technical analysis
• Design security research initiatives that advance the state of the art and inform product development roadmaps
• Present complex technical findings to diverse audiences—from engineers to customer stakeholders
• Lead security assessments and threat research projects for high-value customer engagements
• Build and mentor a team of security researchers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence
• Monitor threat intelligence, attack trends, and emerging exploitation techniques to guide research priorities

What We're Looking For

• Active security clearance or demonstrated eligibility to obtain one
• 10+ years of professional experience in vulnerability research, exploitation, or offensive security
• Expert mastery of systems programming, reverse engineering, binary analysis, or kernel-level security
• Proven ability to discover novel vulnerabilities and develop reliable, reproducible exploits
• Deep technical foundation in operating systems, network protocols, and application architecture
• Strong communication skills—ability to translate complex security concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Portfolio demonstrating impact: published research, conference talks, or notable technical contributions to the security field
