Prescribing Clinician

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential digital health organization in the United Kingdom that is expanding their in-house prescribing capabilities. Our client is seeking a Prescribing Clinician to deliver remote medication reviews and clinical consultations for private weight management clients.

This is a remote, UK-based position offering 20-40 hours per week across five days, with potential weekend work as required. The role begins as a fixed-term contract with strong potential to transition to permanent based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct remote prescribing reviews and consultations via video, telephone, and asynchronous channels for private clients on weight management programmes
• Assess patient eligibility and suitability against medication licensing and established clinical criteria
• Verify patient identity and weight documentation, cross-referencing medication history with Summary Care Record or GP records where available
• Lead shared decision-making conversations, explaining benefits, risks, and alternatives while confirming capacity and consent, including consent for GP notification
• Prescribe within an agreed formulary (including GLP-1 therapies and other weight management medications) following GMC good practice standards, remote prescribing guidance, and the RPS Prescribing Competency Framework
• Manage the complete prescribing pathway from initial assessment through dispensing, GP notification, follow-up, titration, monitoring, and discharge
• Address side effects, adherence concerns, and dosage queries, escalating complex cases to the Clinical Lead as appropriate
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in digital systems
• Participate in monthly multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss cases, protocol questions, and service improvement opportunities
• Contribute to prescribing audits, incident reporting, and duty of candour processes

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Current, unrestricted UK prescribing registration as a GMC-registered doctor, GPhC-registered pharmacist, or NMC-registered nurse with independent prescriber qualification
• Proven experience as a confident, safe remote prescriber working within GMC good practice and remote prescribing standards and the RPS competency framework
• Demonstrated experience assessing patients for and prescribing GLP-1 therapies and other weight management medications
• Sound clinical judgment regarding scope of practice, with ability to recognize when to escalate cases beyond your competence
• Strong clinical documentation skills with attention to operational detail throughout patient pathways
• Excellent communication skills for remote patient consultations
• Comfortable working in digital-first environments across multiple clinical systems
• Must be UK-based and hold current UK professional registration and revalidation

Desirable Experience:

• Background in diabetes or metabolic health
• Previous prescribing experience in private or digital health settings
• Interest in service improvement and clinical pathway development
