About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential French research institution seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for a 24-month fixed-term contract. This role focuses on bio-inspired biocomposites based on secondary plant cell walls, with emphasis on manufacturing processes and mechanical properties. The position is based in Alès, Occitanie, France, and contributes to a French national bioproductions research project.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of nanostructured bio-based materials inspired by the hierarchical architecture of plant secondary cell walls
• Design and optimize sustainable manufacturing processes for the production of nanostructured materials
• Establish relationships between structure, manufacturing process, and material properties
• Conduct in-depth characterization of materials obtained, with particular focus on mechanical properties
• Perform tensile, flexural, and dynamic mechanical analyses
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams on materials development and testing

What We're Looking For

• PhD in materials science, polymer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience in materials processing and mechanical characterization
• Expertise in polymer processing technologies including 3D printing
• Skills in microstructural analysis and mechanical modeling
• Knowledge in plant biology and/or plant biomechanics is highly valued
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment
