Alternative Paths Training School seeks a dedicated part-time Physical Therapist to join our team in Engleside, Fairfax County, where you'll make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special needs through therapeutic intervention and personalized care.
About the Role
This part-time Physical Therapist position offers the opportunity to provide specialized therapeutic services to students in a supportive educational environment. You'll work as part of a collaborative team committed to helping each student develop the physical skills and functional independence they need to succeed both in school and in daily life.
What You'll Do
- Conduct physical assessments and evaluations to identify students' therapeutic needs and functional limitations
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's abilities, goals, and learning style
- Deliver evidence-based physical therapy interventions focused on improving mobility, strength, balance, and coordination
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, parents, and other professionals to integrate therapy goals across academic and daily settings
- Track student progress through systematic documentation and adjust treatment strategies based on outcomes
- Educate students and staff on proper body mechanics, adaptive techniques, and therapeutic exercises they can practice independently
What We're Looking For
- Current Physical Therapist license (PT) with a master's degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent credential
- Experience or strong interest in working with children and adolescents with developmental, physical, or behavioral disabilities
- Genuine commitment to helping students reach their potential with integrity, initiative, and dedication
- Excellent communication skills and the patience to adapt your approach to each student's unique needs
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team in a school-based setting
