Trimble County Schools is hiring a 1st Assistant Track Coach for our Junior/Senior High School in Bedford. This part-time position offers the opportunity to mentor student athletes, develop competitive skills in track and field, and support a comprehensive athletic program serving Trimble County.
About the Role
As 1st Assistant Track Coach, you'll collaborate with the Head Coach to guide student athletes through a dynamic track and field program. You'll lead practices, supervise competitions, and help shape the development of runners, jumpers, and throwers across all competitive events. This role is essential to building strong fundamentals and fostering athletic excellence.
What You'll Do
- Conduct skill instruction and technical training in sprint, distance, field events, and relays
- Design and deliver conditioning workouts that build strength, speed, and endurance
- Lead practice sessions focused on event-specific preparation and competitive readiness
- Work alongside the Head Coach during meets and training to support athlete performance
- Track athlete progress, provide constructive feedback, and help set individual goals
- Maintain equipment, facility standards, and coaching records
- Build positive relationships with student athletes and communicate with families about program opportunities
What We're Looking For
- Solid understanding of track and field techniques and competitive events
- Prior coaching experience, competitive athletic background, or demonstrated expertise in track
- Strong ability to teach, motivate, and inspire young athletes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to athlete safety, sportsmanship, and personal development
- Physical capacity to actively participate in practice and competition activities
- High school diploma or equivalent
