What This Role Involves
As Tax Manager, you'll oversee the planning and execution of tax strategies for affluent individuals and their associated entities. You'll work closely with wealth management professionals to identify tax-saving opportunities and ensure every client receives timely, expert guidance.
Core Duties
- Design and execute tax strategies for high-net-worth clients and their business structures, managing preparation timelines and extension filings
- Verify compliance with all applicable federal and regional tax regulations on behalf of client accounts
- Conduct in-depth research into complex tax scenarios, leveraging team resources and specialist input to reach sound conclusions
- Examine client financial situations in partnership with advisory colleagues to uncover tax-reduction opportunities
- Deliver consistently excellent client experiences through prompt, professional communication and problem resolution
- Serve as a technical resource to wealth management teams, advising on tax strategy, research direction, and regulatory developments
- Contribute to staff training and development alongside the Director of Tax Services, instructing both permanent and seasonal team members
- Collaborate with the Director of Tax Services to communicate significant tax changes to clients through newsletters, social platforms, and other channels
Skills & Qualifications
- Current CPA, EA, or JD designation plus minimum five years of professional experience in tax practice
- Established track record preparing individual tax returns and fiduciary returns, with specialization in high-net-worth family and personal taxation
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of explaining technical concepts to clients and colleagues alike
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel; demonstrated ability to learn new software and systems quickly
- Meticulous attention to detail, proactive follow-through on commitments, strong time management, and organizational discipline
- Ability to contribute effectively both as an individual contributor and as part of a collaborative team
- Willingness to work extended hours during busy season to meet client and firm needs
Preferred experience includes preparing tax returns for wealthy individuals, business entities, partnerships, charitable foundations, and gift tax matters; working with ProSystem fx Tax, CCH Axcess, or BNA Income Tax Planner platforms; or prior employment with national-tier or large regional accounting firms.
