Personal Care Assistant

Join Empower U. as a Personal Care Assistant in West End, Monmouth County, and deliver compassionate, direct support to young individuals with developmental disabilities. In this full-time role, you'll work as part of our team providing respite care services that empower youth and families, working flexible hours across after-school, evening, and weekend shifts.

About the Role

As a Personal Care Assistant with Empower U., you'll be the trusted support person for children and young adults ages 5–21, helping them build confidence and independence while providing their families with essential respite services. You'll work directly with clients in their homes and community settings, building meaningful relationships while maintaining professional standards and adhering to clinical protocols.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct personal care assistance and support with daily living activities
• Help clients develop life skills, independence, and social engagement through positive, structured activities
• Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and any concerns
• Communicate regularly with families, supervisors, and clinical team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
• Follow all organizational protocols, safety procedures, and treatment plans designed for each individual client
• Support clients' emotional and behavioral well-being in a calm, patient, and non-judgmental manner
• Respond appropriately to challenging situations and report any incidents or concerns promptly

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• Genuine compassion and patience when working with young people facing developmental and behavioral challenges
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a clinical team
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and commitment to following protocols and standards
• Physical and emotional capacity to provide direct, hands-on support
• Flexibility to work after-school, evening, and weekend hours as scheduled
• Willingness to receive training and adhere to evidence-based care practices
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred)
