Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit – Respiratory Therapist

About the Role

As a Respiratory Therapist in this pediatric cardiovascular ICU, you'll deliver advanced respiratory support to critically ill children recovering from cardiac procedures and managing complex cardiopulmonary conditions. This full-time position offers the clinical depth and responsibility that experienced respiratory professionals seek.

What You'll Do

• Manage pediatric mechanical ventilation, including initial setup, maintenance, and weaning protocols for post-cardiac patients
• Perform or assist with airway management, including endotracheal intubation support and extubation readiness assessment
• Monitor and interpret patient respiratory status, including arterial blood gas analysis and trending vital parameters
• Collaborate daily with intensivists, cardiac surgeons, nurses, and the broader ICU team to optimize patient care
• Troubleshoot ventilator equipment and manage bedside respiratory equipment in a high-acuity environment
• Document clinical assessments, interventions, and patient response in the medical record
• Educate families on respiratory support and recovery milestones in a pediatric setting
• Adhere to evidence-based protocols and quality standards in pediatric cardiothoracic respiratory care

What We're Looking For

• Current Respiratory Therapist license or certification (RRT or LRT)
• Demonstrated experience in pediatric ICU or critical care respiratory therapy
• Proficiency with pediatric mechanical ventilation and airway management
• BLS and PALS certifications (ACLS preferred)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a complex care environment
• Ability to thrive in a travel assignment setting with professionalism and adaptability
