Payer & Health Systems Oncology, Medical Affairs Director (PHSO MAD) (NC, SC, TN

Overview

We are representing a confidential biopharmaceutical organization seeking a Medical Affairs Director to serve organized health systems and payer accounts across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This field-based role requires a therapeutic expert with oncology expertise who can build peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare decision makers and provide balanced scientific information.

This is a remote position requiring residence within the territory and up to 50% travel. You will partner with account management teams to develop strategic account plans and serve as a key medical resource for health system decision makers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with key decision makers in organized health systems and payer organizations
• Provide accurate medical and scientific information on the oncology portfolio in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards
• Create strategic account plans in partnership with account management teams and execute aligned medical activities
• Serve as the primary resource for market dynamics and evolving information needs within your territory
• Coordinate with regional medical leadership regarding scientific support needs in key health system accounts
• Contribute to strategic planning for medical affairs leadership and the broader team
• Attend scientific and medical meetings and prepare post-meeting deliverables
• Provide mentoring and guidance to other team members

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• MD, PhD, or PharmD degree
• Either 3+ years of dedicated field-based medical affairs experience working with regional/national payers, integrated delivery systems, or scientific leaders OR 5+ years of clinical oncology experience in a health system setting
• Proven experience with organized healthcare systems or payer organizations, including ability to develop peer-to-peer relationships with key decision makers
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical medicine, healthcare delivery system structure, pharmacoeconomics, disease management, quality management, value-based payment, and healthcare policy trends
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong networking ability
• Strong personal integrity, collaborative mindset, and customer focus
• Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical industry ethical guidelines
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with ability to work effectively in dynamic environments
• Demonstrable project leadership abilities
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50%
• Must reside in NC, SC, or TN territory

Preferred Qualifications:

• Field-based medical affairs experience specifically with payers, integrated delivery systems, or scientific leaders
• Formal training in health economics and/or outcomes research
