Role Overview

Te Roopu Taurima is seeking a dedicated Kaiāwhina to join our team in Papakura, Auckland, New Zealand, New Zealand. As the largest kaupapa Māori disability support provider, we offer culturally safe and inclusive environments for people with intellectual and physical impairments. This role will involve supporting tāngata (people) through daily activities, ensuring their needs are met, and promoting their overall well-being.

What You'll Do

• Provide personal support to individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings, including the home or community.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility assistance.
• Support tāngata in accessing community resources and services.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols and best practices.
• Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement individual support plans.

What We're Looking For

• A compassionate and empathetic approach towards supporting individuals with disabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a culturally safe environment, respecting Māori values and tikanga.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Prior experience in disability support or related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Able to work flexible hours as required by the needs of tāngata.
