The Opportunity

Te Roopu Taurima is seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team. As the largest kaupapa Māori disability support provider, we offer a unique and fulfilling role where you can make a meaningful impact in the lives of tāngata (people we serve) with intellectual and physical impairments.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals to live independently and achieve their personal goals.
• Implement individualized support plans tailored to each person's needs.
• Provide emotional, social, and practical assistance in various settings including homes, community centers, and workplaces.
• Facilitate cultural safety and inclusive environments that respect Māori values and practices.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for tāngata.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Disability Support Worker who embodies our core values of manaakitanga (care), whanaungatanga (relationships), and whakapapa (genealogy). Key requirements include:

• A passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.
• Experience in disability support or related field is preferred but not essential.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to upholding Māori cultural values and practices.
• A willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
