Painter-Handyperson – Main Office

Project Find is hiring a full-time Painter-Handyperson for our Main Office location in New York City, New York. At $28 per hour, this position offers the opportunity to support our mission of serving low- and moderate-income seniors through essential maintenance and beautification work across our supportive housing residences and community centers.

About the Role

As our Painter-Handyperson, you'll play a vital role in maintaining safe, welcoming environments for the seniors we serve. This full-time position combines skilled painting work with general facility maintenance, requiring both technical expertise and a commitment to excellence. You'll work independently and collaboratively to ensure our three supportive housing residences and four senior centers remain in excellent condition.

What You'll Do

• Perform interior and exterior painting, including surface preparation, primer application, and finish painting
• Execute general handyperson maintenance and repairs throughout our facilities
• Prepare surfaces by sanding, stripping, washing, and patching as needed
• Troubleshoot and repair common facility issues including drywall, trim, and fixtures
• Maintain painting equipment and materials; ensure proper storage and safety protocols
• Coordinate with staff to schedule work in ways that minimize disruption to residents and program participants
• Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in painting, preferably in institutional or residential settings
• Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, materials, and safety standards
• Ability to lift, carry, and work at heights; comfortable with physical labor
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Respectful, compassionate approach to working in a seniors' housing environment
• Valid driver's license preferred for travel between locations
