Workato is hiring a Technical Director, SAP for its London, United Kingdom office on a full-time basis. This key role suits a seasoned SAP professional ready to shape integration and automation strategies that help enterprises orchestrate complex landscapes at scale.

About This Position

Spurred by rising customer demand and continued growth across the SAP landscape, the Technical Director, SAP sits within the cross-functional Global Field Specialists team of the Global Architecture unit. The focus centres on integration and automation expertise, positioning the role as the go-to authority who mentors colleagues and partners while steering adoption of Workato technologies inside SAP environments ranging from classic ECC and S/4HANA to cloud SaaS applications.

Your Responsibilities

• Serve as the SAP subject-matter expert and trusted specialist who equips Solution Consulting, Professional Services, go-to-market and marketing, partner and alliance, plus production support teams worldwide with the knowledge they need.
• Accelerate workforce adoption of Workato inside the SAP ecosystem, covering ECC, S/4HANA and related SaaS applications.
• Partner tightly with Product and Engineering on SAP product roadmaps, features and releases while acting as the Customer Success liaison for client ramp-up programmes.
• Champion Workato by uncovering and showcasing how the platform supports business transformation and process orchestration for customers in multiple industries.
• Act as chief architect and advisor on complex global enterprise projects alongside Professional Services, guiding solution architecture and consistent delivery practices.
• Strengthen internal practices and strategic initiatives such as the Black Belt programme by authoring reference demonstrations, presentations, accelerators, white papers, best-practice guides and architecture patterns, then coaching customers, partners and internal teams to hit their goals.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of technology consulting experience together with proven end-to-end solution architecture and complete-lifecycle delivery skills on SAP PI/PO and SAP Integration Suite; deep familiarity with SAP BTP services oriented to integration, automation and AI.
• Working knowledge of the SAP NetWeaver stack and SAP S/4HANA architectures.
• Expert command of every major SAP interfacing technology and method—RFC protocol and RFMs, BAPIs, ALE/IDocs, OData, SOAP web services, XI proxies—including full-cycle monitoring, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and performance optimisation.
• Solid grounding in SAP ABAP design, coding, debugging and problem resolution.
• Comfortable configuring ALE/IDoc exchanges and developing/provisioning OData services.
• Acquaintance with ECC-to-S/4HANA migration and transformation approaches plus key extensibility frameworks such as Clean Core, RAP, CAP and ISA-M.
• Foundational understanding of core SAP business processes and broader SAP ecosystem familiarities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally through influence without direct reporting lines, including partnerships with go-to-market, Customer Success, Product and support organisations.
• Willingness to travel to client locations up to 25 per cent of the time, subject to circumstances.
• Fluent written and spoken business English.
• Advantageous: hands-on EDI integration experience (X12, EDIFACT, TRADACOMS, VDA standards; transaction sets 850/855/856/810/997; AS2, SFTP, VAN, OFTP; platforms such as Seeburger or OpenText), non-SAP ERP and SaaS application integration (Dynamics 365, NetSuite, Salesforce, Workday), foundational cloud skills (AWS, Azure or GCP), awareness of AI techniques (LLMs, agents, RAG), SAP analytics artefacts (BW, DataSphere, Analytics Cloud), programming fluency in languages such as Ruby, Python, JavaScript or SQL, exposure to other middleware/iPaaS tools, sector-specific process knowledge (healthcare, financial services) or relevant certifications.
