Join Beaverton School District 48J as a Music Teacher at Elmonica Elementary School in Beaverton, Washington County. This.5 FTE probationary position offers the opportunity to inspire young learners through music education and foster a lifelong appreciation for musical expression and performance.
About the Role
As a Music Teacher, you will develop and teach an engaging music curriculum that helps elementary students build foundational skills in vocal and instrumental music, music theory, and performance. You'll create a welcoming, supportive classroom environment where every student gains confidence in their musical abilities and discovers the joy of making music together.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver comprehensive music lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Teach singing, instrument technique, rhythm, melody, and music appreciation
- Prepare students for school performances and musical events
- Guide students in developing lifelong habits of musical literacy and artistic expression
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate instructional records
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music across the elementary curriculum
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning community that supports all learners
What We're Looking For
- Valid Oregon teaching license or eligibility for certification in music education
- Strong knowledge of elementary music instruction methods and standards
- Demonstrated ability to engage young students and manage classroom dynamics effectively
- Proficiency with voice and/or band and orchestral instruments
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative spirit
