Member of Technical Staff (Data Intelligence)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking a Member of Technical Staff focused on Data Intelligence. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between cutting-edge machine learning research and production-scale data engineering, ensuring that multimodal foundation models are trained on the highest quality datasets at petabyte scale.

You'll collaborate closely with model researchers and infrastructure engineers to define data quality standards, build processing pipelines, and optimize the compute systems that power model training. This is a unique opportunity to shape how data decisions translate into model capabilities while building robust, scalable systems.

Location: Singapore, UK, or USA

Responsibilities

• Partner with research teams to establish data quality metrics, validation frameworks, and acceptance criteria for training datasets
• Evaluate and curate open-source datasets while creating proprietary datasets optimized for foundation model training
• Design and implement algorithms for automated data quality assessment, domain mixture optimization, and synthetic-to-real data adaptation
• Build comprehensive tracking systems for datasets, metadata, provenance, and versioning to ensure reproducible experiments
• Own CI/CD pipelines and development tooling for the data stack, automating workflows to increase team velocity
• Monitor and optimize throughput, storage efficiency, and compute utilization across distributed data processing systems

What We're Looking For

• Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning with hands-on experience operating large-scale data or compute infrastructure
• Ability to navigate between research exploration and production engineering—equally comfortable analyzing datasets and shipping reliable systems
• Demonstrated research experience with data composition strategies, quality assessment, and dataset development
• Track record of designing rigorous experiments with statistically sound methodologies
• Practical experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Spark, Ray, Airflow, or similar technologies
• Advanced Python programming skills and familiarity with modern ML training workflows including dataset management, checkpointing, and experiment tracking
• Strong intuition for data quality measurement, monitoring, and regression prevention at scale
• Proven ability to prioritize effectively in fast-paced environments and communicate clearly with both technical researchers and engineers
• Bonus: Experience with large-scale video datasets, dataset curation for training pipelines, or building internal ML evaluation and analysis tools
