Medical Monitor (US Board-Certified Gastroenterologist)

We are representing a well-established contract research organization seeking a US Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to serve as a Medical Monitor for global clinical studies. This home-based role places you at the forefront of patient safety and clinical trial oversight within the gastroenterology therapeutic area.

Our client operates across multiple therapeutic indications and maintains a strong reputation for quality delivery in clinical research. This position offers the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise to drug development while working remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary medical and safety contact for all parties involved in assigned clinical trials
• Monitor trial participant safety throughout study conduct and provide medical oversight
• Develop input for regulatory authority responses and IRB/IEC communications on medical and safety matters
• Present medical content at investigator meetings and train trial teams on therapeutic area specifics
• Conduct ongoing medical review of clinical trial databases and support data reconciliation efforts
• Review and assess protocol deviations, adverse event reports, and serious adverse event narratives
• Collaborate with pharmacovigilance teams on outstanding safety queries and site safety issues
• Review IND safety reports, amendments to essential trial documents, and annual regulatory submissions
• Participate in trial-related committee management including independent data monitoring committees
• Review clinical study reports, safety narratives, and statistical outputs
• Support trial audits, feasibility assessments, and client interactions as needed
• Provide therapeutic area expertise to cross-functional teams within the organization

What We're Looking For

• Medical Doctor degree required
• US Board Certification in Gastroenterology required
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a practicing gastroenterologist
• Clinical research experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for medical audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Detail-oriented approach with collaborative team mindset
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
