Managing Quantity Surveyor (Construction) – 4 Day Work Week

We are representing a confidential construction technology client in their search for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to transition into a strategic commercial role. This position offers a rare chance to leave traditional project delivery behind and apply your expertise across an entire industry sector.

Our client has built a platform that addresses one of construction's most persistent challenges: the loss of recoverable margin through poorly documented change events and disputed claims. They need someone who has lived this problem to help their customers solve it.

This role is based in the United Kingdom and offers a 4-day work week with full-time compensation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with commercial teams at client organizations to identify where profit leakage occurs due to unmanaged change and insufficient documentation
• Demonstrate how proper systems and processes can protect margin and build defensible project records
• Support customer adoption of new workflows, ensuring both site and office teams maintain consistent documentation practices
• Coach commercial managers on strengthening claims defense and dispute resolution through auditable evidence
• Serve as the construction commercial voice within the product team, informing development priorities based on real-world project challenges
• Facilitate knowledge transfer across the customer base, elevating industry-wide standards for commercial management

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Significant experience as a Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyor, or similar role in construction delivery
• Deep understanding of how undocumented change and poor records erode project profitability
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and explain complex commercial issues clearly
• Strategic mindset capable of diagnosing systemic problems and implementing scalable solutions
• Desire to create industry-wide impact rather than optimizing individual projects
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom

Preferred:

• Experience advising multiple stakeholders or consulting across organizations
• Familiarity with SaaS platforms or digital transformation initiatives in construction
• Comfort leading workshops, training sessions, or customer presentations
• Ability to connect commercial pain points to practical technology solutions
