Managing Director (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential management consulting organization in Köln that is entering an exciting growth phase. As Managing Director, you will take full strategic, operational, and financial responsibility for their institute and actively shape its future direction.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the institute's overall strategy and operations as part of the German management team, reporting directly to the CEO
• Build and develop a team of consultants, trainers, and coaches, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and collaborative excellence
• Strengthen existing client relationships while winning new business and identifying growth opportunities
• Strategically develop the service portfolio, driving innovation in new business areas and future-ready business models
• Contribute your expertise to selected projects and strategically important client relationships
• Position the institute within the broader organization and the market, serving as a key bridge between teams
• Lead the expansion of digital and hybrid service offerings to create scalable solutions

What We're Looking For

Our client needs an entrepreneurial leader with extensive management experience who has successfully led teams, business units, or comparable organizational entities.

Required qualifications:

• Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Psychology, or related field
• Proven experience in management consulting or organizational consulting, ideally in leadership development, transformation, change management, talent assessment, or organizational development
• Track record of leading and operationally managing comparable projects
• Strong business acumen with deep understanding of market dynamics and customer needs
• Experience expanding client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and evolving products and service lines
• Strategic thinking combined with pragmatic execution skills that turn ideas into sustainable results
• Excellent communication and storytelling abilities with confident presence across diverse audiences and stakeholders
• Understanding of digital business models, hybrid service offerings, and scalable services
• Comfort operating in dynamic, high-growth environments with strong self-motivation and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and projects beyond remote work
• Fluency in German required for this Köln-based position
