Manager – OTA Vehicle Engineering

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential automotive technology organization at the forefront of software-defined vehicle development in Berlin. Our client is building the future of automotive through continuous software iteration and over-the-air capabilities that enable rapid delivery of features to vehicles in the field.

As Manager of OTA Vehicle Engineering, you will lead a growing technical team responsible for developing end-to-end features within a critical OTA ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership and hands-on engineering, requiring someone who can operate from embedded systems to business strategy while thriving in complex, high-stakes environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Berlin engineering team from both technical and architectural perspectives to establish an autonomous chapter within the larger OTA organization
• Own development and testing of assigned OTA features for the Berlin team
• Collaborate with engineering teams across multiple international sites to build effective work distribution processes and ensure efficient satellite operations
• Partner directly with major automotive industry stakeholders on joint development initiatives
• Spend at least 50% of your time contributing technically to the OTA system
• Establish software development processes, test automation frameworks, and operational KPIs

What We're Looking For

Leadership Experience:

• 5+ years in software development or integration, including 2+ years managing engineers
• Track record of leading technical teams in highly cross-functional, international environments
• Proven ability to bring order to complex product and stakeholder networks technically, operationally, and organizationally
• Ability to reason across the full technology stack from domain software to vehicle architecture and speak authoritatively at each level
• Experience building software platforms for complex, distributed, electromechanical systems (aerospace, automotive, defense, or robotics)
• Systems engineering and architectural development experience

Required Technical Skills:

• High-performance C++ and/or Rust applications for co-habitated POSIX systems
• Embedded software in C and/or Rust for real-time operating systems
• Developing test automation software in Python and Go

Preferred Technical Skills:

• Experience developing software infrastructure for over-the-air updates on deployed products
• Automotive diagnostic protocols (UDS, SOVD)
• Automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Flexray, ETH-UDP, ISO-TP over ETH-TCP)
