Legal Counsel

What This Role Involves

As Legal Counsel, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, overseeing legal matters that drive PolicyStreet's success. Your work spans contract management, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and corporate governance. You'll be responsible for ensuring the organisation operates within legal and regulatory frameworks whilst enabling business objectives. This role demands both strategic thinking and hands-on legal expertise in a fast-moving business environment.

Core Duties

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documentation across business functions
• Monitor regulatory compliance and advise on legal requirements affecting operations in Malaysia and relevant jurisdictions
• Identify and assess legal risks; develop mitigation strategies to protect the organisation
• Manage litigation, disputes, and legal proceedings; coordinate with external counsel where necessary
• Advise on corporate governance, employment law, data protection, and intellectual property matters
• Provide legal guidance to finance, operations, and business development teams on contract and regulatory issues
• Maintain legal documentation and ensure accurate records of agreements and compliance activities

Who We're Looking For

• Admitted lawyer in Malaysia with practising certificate or eligible to practise
• 5+ years' experience in corporate law, in-house counsel, or commercial legal practice
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate law, contract law, and regulatory requirements
• Proven ability to manage multiple legal matters concurrently and work to tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers
• Strategic mindset; able to align legal advice with business needs
• Proactive problem-solver with strong attention to detail and integrity
