This full-time role in Irvine, CA offers the opportunity to design and maintain the data systems that connect field operations to engineering, autonomy research, and machine learning teams.

The Opportunity

Field-ai builds autonomous robot systems deployed across construction, security, mining, and manufacturing to address complex real-world challenges. Our robots operate in demanding environments on a global scale, continuously generating operational data that drives insights, improvements, and innovation. As a Data Platform Engineer focused on data pipelines, you'll architect and implement the infrastructure that reliably captures and transports data from our robots in the field to the teams who depend on it—spanning analytics, autonomy research, machine learning training, and deployment operations. Your work directly enables the visibility and insights that guide our engineering roadmap.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and build data pipeline systems that reliably move telemetry, sensor data, and operational signals from deployed robots to internal services and teams
• Create integrations between robot systems, data storage infrastructure, and downstream consumption platforms used by analytics, autonomy, and operations teams
• Develop systems to capture, classify, and categorize autonomy events, operational anomalies, and field signals that inform product and research priorities
• Collaborate with robotics, autonomy research, and operations teams to understand data requirements, constraints, and consumption patterns
• Ensure data quality, accessibility, and scalability as our fleet of globally deployed robots expands

Who We're Looking For

• Proven experience designing, building, or maintaining data pipelines and data infrastructure systems
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, data flow architecture, and cloud platforms
• Experience integrating systems across multiple teams, environments, or services
• Comfort working cross-functionally with robotics, machine learning, and operations engineering teams
• Genuine interest in autonomous systems, robotics, or real-world AI applications
