Wabtec is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer, MCA – Fleet Innovation & Transformation to drive advanced systems architecture and technical innovation in Boise, ID. This full-time role offers the opportunity to shape the future of fleet technology through strategic systems engineering leadership.
The Opportunity
As a Lead Systems Engineer, you'll spearhead the design and optimization of critical systems that power modern fleet operations. This high-impact position blends technical expertise with strategic vision—you'll influence product direction, lead complex technical initiatives, and mentor engineering teams across the organization. Your work directly contributes to Wabtec's transformation into a leader in intelligent, efficient fleet solutions. Based in Boise, ID, you'll work closely with product development, manufacturing, and field operations teams to translate innovation into real-world impact.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and optimize systems-level solutions that enhance fleet performance, reliability, and safety
- Lead the technical direction and strategy for core systems architecture and implementation
- Guide cross-functional engineering teams through complex system development and resolve architecture-level challenges
- Mentor junior and mid-level systems engineers, fostering technical growth and engineering discipline
- Develop and refine systems engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices
- Collaborate across hardware, software, and field operations to ensure robust system integration and deployment
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of hands-on systems engineering experience, preferably in embedded systems, transportation, or fleet technology
- Strong expertise in systems architecture, design methodology, and technical specification development
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
- Deep understanding of systems integration, validation, and testing approaches
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills across technical and business stakeholders
- Experience defining and driving technical strategy at the system level
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
