  • Build and lead Anthropic's biotech policy agenda across federal stakeholders, allied governments, and life sciences regulators
  • Provide thought leadership on how AI reshapes biotechnology—competitive advantage, supply chain resilience, medicine access, and biosecurity implications

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Current or recent TS/SCI clearance (within last two years) with ability to maintain
  • Working knowledge of biotech and biosecurity policy, regulatory modernization, and bio-innovation infrastructure
  • Deep familiarity with U.S. agencies and Congressional committees directing biotech policy: FDA, NIH, Commerce, USDA, DOE, NSC, and allied counterparts
  • Demonstrated success advocating with biotech regulators and relevant Congressional committees
  • Scientific fluency to engage credibly with technical researchers and translate AI and biological capabilities for policymakers
  • Experience designing and promoting concrete biotech policy and regulatory proposals
  • Ability to work effectively across technical, go-to-market, safety, legal, and communications teams
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, especially when briefing senior officials
  • Strategic independence and capability to develop and execute policy initiatives while managing cross-team dependencies
  • Demonstrated engagement with complex technical subjects—AI, synthetic biology, genomics, or medical countermeasures

Preferred:

  • 10+ years in biotech or biosecurity policy roles across government or private sector, with senior-level experience in U.S. and international policymaking
  • Contributions to national biotech strategy frameworks (National Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative, synthesis-screening standards, FDA modernization)
  • Leadership or participation in large-scale public-private biotech partnerships
  • Prior biotech policy roles at HHS, Commerce, NSC, or comparable allied institutions
  • Understanding of biotech dynamics across pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and industrial biomanufacturing
  • Experience assessing dual-use technology risks, including AI-enabled biological threats
