Lead Planner (SC Cleared)

We are representing a confidential project controls consultancy seeking a Lead Planner with active SC clearance to join their Glasgow team on a hybrid basis. Our client works across major construction and infrastructure programmes throughout the UK, and this role offers genuine progression within a merit-based environment where your development is tracked transparently.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of robust, realistic and defensible construction schedules
• Develop schedule estimates for construction works, ensuring alignment to project scope, delivery strategy and key assumptions
• Define the Basis of Estimate for construction schedule scope, including assumptions, exclusions and constraints
• Provide planning leadership across programmes, maintaining schedule quality, logic, integration and governance
• Collaborate with Cost and Risk Management teams to ensure alignment of estimates, assumptions and schedule impacts
• Support the Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) process in partnership with the Risk team
• Identify and manage key internal and external interfaces including procurement, consents, dependent projects and delivery milestones
• Review supplier and contractor schedules, challenging logic, assumptions, progress and deliverability where required
• Validate schedule estimates using benchmark data, design information and BIM
• Build stakeholder buy-in across internal and external programme participants

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Active SC clearance (required prior to application)
• Proven experience in construction or infrastructure environments
• Solid scheduling expertise including Primavera P6
• Previous experience operating at Lead Planner level or as a senior planning professional with schedule ownership and coordination responsibilities
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Confidence building schedules from first principles and reviewing supplier submissions
• Understanding of schedule hierarchy, integration, governance and change control
• Familiarity with NEC or FIDIC contracts
• Strong communication and presentation skills with a collaborative mindset
• Ability to lead planning discussions with internal teams, clients, suppliers and stakeholders
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

Desirable:

• Degree or equivalent in construction, engineering, project management or related field
• Knowledge of QSRA, design processes and CDM
• Experience in stakeholder management
• Membership of APM, AACE, PMI or similar professional bodies (with certifications)
• Experience using Power BI and other reporting/analytics tools
