IT Security & Infrastructure Specialist (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization in Osnabrück that is expanding its IT security and infrastructure capabilities. Due to growth and increasing security requirements, our client is building out this function and seeking an experienced security professional to take technical ownership of security standards, infrastructure hardening, and monitoring systems.

In this role, you will work closely with an established IT team while taking primary responsibility for security topics. You will have the autonomy to make technical decisions, establish security standards, and shape the IT landscape for the long term.

Responsibilities

• Security Standards Definition: Develop concrete and binding guidelines for secure IT design and operations
• Infrastructure & Monitoring: Analyze and optimize Linux and Windows infrastructure; manage monitoring of availability, performance, capacity, and system states
• System Hardening & Vulnerability Management: Create secure configurations for servers, clients, and operating systems; identify, remediate, and document vulnerabilities
• Security Monitoring & SIEM: Develop centralized logging, monitoring, and detection capabilities; integrate relevant log sources into SIEM; create detection and alerting rules; evaluate security events and initiate appropriate measures
• Security Assessments & Technical Approvals: Review new systems for security risks, derive concrete requirements, and make documented approval decisions
• ISO 27001 & ISMS: Play a key role in building the Information Security Management System and preparing for ISO 27001 certification, focusing on translating regulatory and organizational requirements into effective technical measures
• Security by Design: Support project teams in developing secure architectures and solutions
• Security Awareness: Design and implement targeted training programs, awareness campaigns, and practical exercises to strengthen security consciousness across the organization
• IT Operations Support: Assist the team with operational tasks and incident response to ensure reliable IT service delivery

What We're Looking For

• Completed IT training or degree in an IT-related field
• Minimum five years of relevant experience as IT Security Engineer, Cyber Security Engineer, Cyber Security Architect, Systems Administrator, Information Security Officer, IT Infrastructure Engineer, ISMS Consultant, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of IT security, networks, VPN, firewalls, and Linux/Windows infrastructures
• Ideally, practical experience contributing to ISMS implementation or ISO 27001 certification
• Knowledge of penetration testing, AWS, Azure, VMware, Proxmox, Microsoft 365, and Jira is a plus
• Excellent German and English communication skills for technical environments, client interactions, and cross-functional collaboration
• Independent, structured working style with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Self-driven approach to advancing initiatives
• Willingness to make decisions, take ownership, and advocate for your technical assessments
