About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential insurance organization based in Northern Germany. We are seeking an IT Security Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis in Hamburg. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of security operations and data protection in a dynamic environment with strong work-life balance and professional development support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and operate security operations center and security information event management systems, including onboarding new systems, reviewing automated threat detection, and adjusting rules based on current threat landscapes
- Advance vulnerability management processes by integrating new systems, evaluating scan results, and contributing to remediation efforts
- Actively monitor IT security by analyzing security information, scan results, and security appliance alerts for early risk mitigation
- Investigate security incidents, conduct thorough analyses, recommend countermeasures, and guide implementation in collaboration with internal and external teams
- Organize and execute external penetration tests, including planning, coordination, technical evaluation of results, and support for implementing recommended measures
- Conduct internal penetration tests, evaluate findings technically, and support teams in implementing derived security improvements
What We're Looking For
- Completed technical degree in Computer Science, IT Security, or Business Informatics
- Solid professional experience in IT security, ideally within the insurance sector
- Several years of experience in IT operations or software development with a focus on IT security solutions
- Deep understanding of security topics and hands-on experience with modern system components including cloud technologies such as OpenShift or containerization
- Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style with strong initiative
- Excellent communication skills and team orientation, comfortable working across disciplines as an interface between teams
- German language proficiency required for this role
