International Tunnel Engineer

Sheladia Associates, Inc is seeking an experienced International Tunnel Engineer to join our team in Tbilisi. In this full-time position, you will lead the design, analysis, and delivery of complex underground infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.

What This Role Involves

As an International Tunnel Engineer at Sheladia Associates, Inc, you will be central to ambitious infrastructure development projects in Tbilisi and across multiple regions. You will apply specialized expertise in tunnel engineering to solve complex geotechnical and structural challenges, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative outcomes. Your technical knowledge will shape how modern tunnels are conceived, validated, and constructed, from initial concept through final completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical and hydrological site investigations to assess tunneling feasibility and identify project risks
• Design tunnel systems, support structures, and ventilation strategies in compliance with international codes and standards
• Develop detailed construction methodologies and sequencing plans tailored to site-specific conditions
• Oversee construction activities, monitor safety compliance, and ensure quality standards throughout project delivery
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, environmental specialists, and government stakeholders to align project objectives
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, and documentation for regulatory approval and client review
• Identify and resolve design and construction challenges through innovative problem-solving and technical analysis

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Professional engineering registration or licensure (PE, CEng, or equivalent) preferred
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in tunnel design, construction management, or underground infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated expertise in tunnel engineering principles, geotechnical analysis, and construction methods
• Proficiency with engineering design software and BIM tools
• Strong knowledge of international design standards, codes, and best practices
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
• Willingness to travel internationally as project demands require
