BMT is seeking an Intermediate Naval Architect to join our team in one of three Canadian locations: Halifax, Nova Scotia; Ottawa, Ontario; or Victoria, British Columbia. This is a permanent, full-time position with a competitive annual salary range of $85,000–$105,000.
Position Summary
As an Intermediate Naval Architect with BMT, you will play a vital role in designing and analyzing advanced marine structures. This position offers professional growth within a collaborative engineering environment focused on delivering practical solutions to complex maritime challenges across Canada.
What You'll Do
- Conduct structural design and analysis for marine vessels and submarine systems
- Develop detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation using industry-standard CAD software
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to meet project requirements and timelines
- Ensure designs comply with relevant maritime regulations and classification society standards
- Support senior architects in technical reviews, optimization, and quality assurance
- Contribute to proposals and design solutions for diverse marine engineering projects
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 2–5 years of professional experience in naval architecture, marine design, or related structural engineering roles
- Proficiency with naval design and CAD software (AutoCAD, CATIA, or equivalent platforms)
- Solid understanding of maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to technical detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within engineering teams
- Valid driver's license (may be required for site visits)
