Director of MEP

Apd is seeking a Director of MEP to lead the company's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering division in Fairport, New York. This full-time leadership position offers the opportunity to shape the future of our MEP practice while working with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Role Overview

As Director of MEP at our Fairport, New York headquarters, you will take the helm of a critical engineering discipline. This role combines strategic vision with hands-on technical leadership. You'll drive the expansion of our MEP services, maintain rigorous quality standards across all projects, oversee budget and profit performance, and develop our engineering talent. Collaboration across architectural, civil, structural, and administrative teams is essential to delivering integrated solutions that keep our clients satisfied and our business thriving.

Core Duties

• Direct the vision, strategy, and operational execution of the MEP engineering department
• Oversee the quality, schedule, and budget for all MEP projects to ensure client satisfaction and profitability
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of MEP engineers and technical staff
• Foster partnerships with architecture, civil, and structural engineering teams to integrate solutions
• Develop and implement business development initiatives to grow the MEP practice
• Manage financial performance, resource allocation, and operational efficiency
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients

Who We're Looking For

• Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
• Extensive experience in MEP engineering design, project management, or consulting
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and business performance
• Proficiency with MEP design software and industry-standard engineering tools
• Strong communication and client relationship management skills
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Engineering, or related field
• Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and MEP best practices
