CRB seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Design Engineer III to join our team in this full-time, remote role based in Mississauga, ON, Canada. As a senior-level engineer, you will drive the design and development of instrumentation and control systems that power critical infrastructure and industrial processes.
Position Summary
In this role, you will lead the technical design, specification, and development of instrumentation and controls solutions for complex industrial and infrastructure projects. You will work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, applying advanced knowledge of control systems, automation, and instrumentation technologies. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers while taking ownership of significant technical deliverables from concept through commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Design and specify instrumentation systems, control architectures, and automation solutions for industrial and infrastructure applications
- Develop detailed control logic, P&IDs, and system documentation using industry-standard tools and best practices
- Conduct technical reviews, feasibility assessments, and risk evaluations for instrumentation and controls projects
- Collaborate with project teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure systems meet functional and operational requirements
- Provide technical guidance during installation, testing, and commissioning of systems
- Stay current with emerging technologies, standards, and regulations in controls and instrumentation engineering
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in instrumentation engineering, controls engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience in instrumentation and controls design and engineering
- Strong proficiency with PLC/SCADA systems, control algorithms, and industrial automation platforms
- Solid understanding of instrumentation principles, sensor selection, and signal conditioning
- Excellent technical communication skills and ability to produce clear engineering documentation
- Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and work effectively in team environments
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification or eligibility for licensure is preferred
