Ingénieur.e de recherche : Digital Twin for Planning in Surface Treatment Industries (H/F) – CDD 18 MOIS

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential research institution in France seeking an experienced Research Engineer for an 18-month contract focused on digital twin development for industrial planning systems.

You will serve as the technical integrator for a multi-disciplinary research project centered on organizational digital twins for surface treatment manufacturing. Your core mission is to build a prototype digital twin system that consolidates contributions from parallel doctoral research streams into a functional platform.

Your responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing a digital twin system architecture centered on finite-capacity simulation models supporting short-term, medium-term, and strategic planning horizons
• Integrating planning support services including optimization modules, operator versatility management, batch sizing, and tracking of critical system parameters
• Following systems engineering methodologies to formalize requirements, anticipate scalability impacts, and propose architectures adaptable to process evolution
• Collaborating with industrial partners to build representative datasets across various operational scales
• Developing the evaluation platform to assess the added value and organizational impact of the digital twin
• Ensuring bidirectional interaction between physical operations and virtual replicas for global flow management
• Contributing to applied research outputs and documentation in collaboration with doctoral researchers

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Engineering degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Strong expertise in IT system engineering and architecture
• Proven software development capabilities
• Experience with DevOps methodologies and practices
• English and French language proficiency (minimum B2 level for both written and spoken)
• Autonomy and ability to work effectively within research teams
• Motivation to contribute to industrial applications of research

Highly valued additional skills:

• Experience with discrete event simulation
• Operations research background
• Knowledge of reinforcement learning
• Familiarity with large-scale data analysis for simulation applications

Contract Details
