Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer (m-f-d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential international organization in the sustainability sector, and we're seeking an Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to join their operations team in Bonn, Germany. In this role, you will:

• Design, deploy, operate, and continuously improve cloud and on-premises infrastructure services supporting global operations and digital platforms
• Administer and optimize infrastructure technologies including cloud platforms, Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, networking, storage, and enterprise collaboration services
• Manage the complete infrastructure lifecycle: provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, monitoring, capacity management, and decommissioning
• Support cloud adoption and modernization initiatives through implementation of secure, scalable hybrid infrastructure solutions
• Ensure availability, performance, reliability, security, and operational stability of infrastructure services
• Deploy and configure infrastructure using approved automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) patterns, and platform standards
• Maintain backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls, remediate vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance
• Support networking services including LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, cloud networking, and secure connectivity across distributed environments
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve troubleshooting, documentation, and operational efficiency
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, technical standards, operational procedures, and knowledge articles

What We're Looking For

Education & Certifications:

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Professional certifications desirable: Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Specialist, Terraform Associate, or equivalent

Experience & Skills:

• 3+ years supporting cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments, including Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, networking, and enterprise infrastructure services
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, infrastructure operations, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, identity and access management, networking, backup, and disaster recovery
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure and/or AWS)
• Understanding of networking technologies: LAN/WAN, VPN, network segmentation, routing, and switching
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational tooling
• Familiarity with cloud-native data and AI platforms from an infrastructure and operational support perspective
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
• Collaborative, proactive, and results-driven approach with focus on service reliability and operational excellence

Language Requirements:

• Fluency in English (spoken and written) required
• German is an advantage
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Position Details:

• Location: Bonn, Germany (Hybrid work arrangement)
• Full-time position: 40 hours per week
• Temporary contract: 2 years (extension possible subject to performance)
• Start date: As soon as possible
