Information Desk Specialist – Patient Relations/Info Desk

Nationwide Children's Hospital is hiring an Information Desk Specialist for our Main Hospital location to welcome visitors, answer inquiries, and provide essential information and directions. This part-time position offers flexible evening hours and the chance to make a meaningful difference in patients' and families' experiences during their hospital visits.

About the Role

As an Information Desk Specialist in Patient Relations, you'll serve as the first point of contact for hospital visitors, patients, and families. Based at our Main Hospital information desk, you'll handle both in-person visitor needs and incoming phone inquiries with professionalism and compassion. Your role bridges patient relations and daily operations, ensuring every visitor feels welcome and directed to the right location or department.

What You'll Do

• Greet and welcome all visitors to the hospital with a positive, helpful attitude
• Answer visitor inquiries and respond to common questions about hospital services, locations, departments, and visiting policies
• Direct walk-in visitors to their destinations, using knowledge of hospital layout and department locations (C and D buildings)
• Answer and route incoming phone calls to appropriate departments, personnel, or voicemail systems
• Provide general hospital information and organizational details to callers and guests
• Handle visitor check-in procedures and maintain a welcoming front desk environment
• Address visitor concerns and problems with empathy and escalate issues to appropriate staff when needed

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy healthcare environment
• Excellent customer service mindset and genuine desire to help patients and families
• Reliable and punctual, available for part-time evening shifts Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM–9:30 PM
• Ability to multitask and handle phone calls and walk-in inquiries simultaneously
• Basic computer skills and comfort with phones and office equipment
• Commitment to patient privacy and HIPAA compliance standards
