About the Role

The Human Resources Director serves as the senior HR leader for Stanford Blood Center, providing strategic and operational oversight of all human resources functions. You'll partner with executive leadership to advance organizational goals, develop and implement people-focused initiatives, and ensure Stanford Blood Center attracts, retains, and develops the skilled professionals who make our mission possible. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on engagement in recruitment, compliance, and employee relations.

What You'll Do

  • Direct all recruitment, hiring, and onboarding activities to build and maintain a high-performing workforce across technical, clinical, and administrative roles
  • Develop and administer HR policies, procedures, and programs that comply with healthcare regulations, blood banking standards, HIPAA, and federal employment law
  • Lead employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution, fostering a positive workplace culture
  • Oversee compensation, benefits administration, and payroll coordination to ensure competitiveness and regulatory compliance
  • Design and deliver training programs for staff development, leadership development, and mandatory compliance training
  • Manage HR budgets, metrics, and reporting to support data-driven decision making
  • Ensure workplace safety, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and health and wellness programs
  • Represent Stanford Blood Center in HR-related matters and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of human resources leadership experience, ideally in healthcare, blood banking, or highly regulated industries
  • Deep knowledge of employment law, HIPAA, healthcare compliance, and blood banking regulations
  • Proven ability to develop and execute HR strategy aligned with organizational mission and growth
  • Strong recruitment expertise and track record building high-quality teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with HR systems, databases, and analytics tools
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a mission-driven organization
