German Speaking Senior Accountant

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization operating in the hospitality technology sector across Europe. Our talent team is seeking a German-speaking Senior Accountant to join their finance function in a fully remote capacity based in Germany.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical financial processes in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment where you'll contribute to building scalable finance operations and supporting strategic decision-making through meaningful financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and year-end financial close activities, including preparing complex journal entries and supporting accounting analyses
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Oversee daily Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions, ensuring invoices and credit notes are processed accurately and on time
• Manage vendor communications regarding outstanding invoices and maintain ownership of cost accruals for monthly P&L reviews
• Review and approve supplier payments, bank transfers, and payment batches
• Reconcile employee expense reports, corporate credit cards, invoices, and intercompany transactions
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring financial processes comply with company policies and best practices
• Prepare and validate monthly financial KPIs and management reports
• Prepare monthly VAT returns in compliance with local regulatory requirements
• Support external audits and statutory compliance activities
• Coordinate with external tax advisors by providing required financial information
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and management reporting to support business decisions
• Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying key variances and trends
• Prepare monthly customer churn analysis and support reporting initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, ideally within a technology or SaaS environment
• Ability to speak, read, and write German is mandatory
• Professional accounting or bookkeeping qualification is considered an asset
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles and financial reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Highly organized self-starter who takes ownership and enjoys solving complex problems
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes
• Passion for continuous improvement, automation, and identifying opportunities to streamline financial operations
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
