Free People Associate Embellishment Designer

Urban Outfitters, Inc. is hiring an Associate Embellishment Designer for our Free People brand, based in National Park, Gloucester County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to shape the artistic vision and craft execution that define Free People's distinctive aesthetic for a global customer base.

About the Role

Free People's Embellishment Design team creates the textile artistry, embroidery techniques, and decorative elements that elevate our fashion collections. As an Associate Embellishment Designer, you'll work directly with the design team to develop original artwork and technical specifications for our Femme and specialty craft categories. Your contributions will translate creative concepts into detailed, production-ready designs that resonate with Free People's brand identity and customer expectations.

What You'll Do

• Develop original embellishment artwork and embroidery designs for Free People Collection categories, with emphasis on Femme-focused pieces
• Create and refine technical specification documents (tech packs) that guide production partners through design intent and execution
• Collaborate with senior designers and the embellishment team to ensure artistic direction aligns with brand standards and seasonal themes
• Research embroidery techniques, material applications, and craft methodologies to expand the team's design capabilities
• Support the sampling and prototyping process, providing constructive feedback and design refinements
• Maintain organized design files and documentation for easy reference and future product development

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrable experience in embellishment design, embroidery, textile design, or a closely related craft discipline
• Strong visual design skills and understanding of embroidery techniques, stitch methods, and textile applications
• Proficiency with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar industry tools
• Ability to translate creative concepts into detailed, accurate technical specifications
• Passion for the Free People brand aesthetic and understanding of contemporary fashion trends
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities
• Collaborative mindset and clear communication skills within a team environment
