Forward Deployed Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential sports technology organization in their search for a Forward Deployed Engineer based in their Berlin office. Our client has built an AI-powered platform that transforms how athletic performance is captured, analyzed, and shared across all levels of sport.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering and partnership delivery. You'll be part of the API team, working hands-on to turn integration requirements into production solutions while collaborating directly with external partners. You'll report to the Engineering Manager and work alongside engineers and a Technical Product Manager in a focused, small team environment.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to real-world problems, comfortable moving between technical conversations and code, and motivated by building solutions that work in practice rather than just in theory.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical execution of partner integrations from discovery through delivery and iteration
• Work directly with external partners to understand their technical environments, constraints, and goals
• Build production-quality solutions across backend, infrastructure, and occasionally frontend
• Act as technical counterpart in partner discussions, clarifying feasibility and trade-offs
• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, engineers, and Technical Product Manager to shape scope and priorities
• Determine when to build targeted solutions versus pushing work into broader platform capabilities
• Proactively identify and resolve technical risks, gaps, or blockers in partner integrations
• Feed insights from partner work back into roadmap discussions and technical direction
• Contribute to developer-facing documentation, examples, and integration patterns
• Occasionally travel for hands-on collaboration with partners when needed

What We're Looking For

• Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals with experience shipping production systems end to end
• Comfort working as a generalist across backend systems, APIs, integrations, frontend, and infrastructure
• Experience building, consuming, or supporting API-based integrations
• Proficiency with Python and TypeScript (core product languages) plus willingness to adapt to partner tech stacks
• Ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces where requirements evolve
• Good judgment around scope and trade-offs, knowing when to build specific solutions versus simpler approaches
• Confidence engaging directly with partners in technical contexts
• Mindset oriented toward making others successful with resilience to stay with problems until resolved
• Experience translating loosely defined needs into concrete technical solutions
• Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Willingness to occasionally travel for partner collaboration
