Position Summary
The Financial Analyst II role is central to advancing the University of Rochester's mission of Meliora—Ever Better. In this position, you'll deliver rigorous financial analysis, support budget management, and partner with departments across the university to ensure sound financial decision-making. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support planning and budget reviews
- Collaborate with university departments and budget owners to gather data, explain financial results, and recommend adjustments
- Build and maintain financial models and analytical tools to track departmental performance and institutional trends
- Assist in annual budget development, including consolidation, review, and presentation of departmental submissions
- Monitor financial systems, reconcile accounts, and identify areas for process improvement or cost optimization
- Present findings and recommendations to finance leadership and departmental stakeholders
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or related field
- Two or more years of professional finance, accounting, or financial analysis experience
- Proficiency with Excel, financial databases, and reporting systems; experience with enterprise financial software is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, integrity, respect, and accountability in professional interactions
