About the Role

Sitting within Deloitte's Brand Marketing & Communications (BM&C) organization, this External Communications Manager position partners closely with Life Sciences & Health Care business leaders and subject matter specialists to build and execute external communications programs that strengthen Deloitte's reputation and visibility in the market. You'll bring strategic thinking and sharp editorial instincts to a team that values creativity alongside rigor.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement external communications strategies aligned to the Life Sciences & Health Care practice's priorities and business objectives
• Cultivate and manage relationships with industry journalists, trade media, and analysts to secure meaningful coverage
• Develop compelling content including press releases, executive bylines, Q&As, media pitches, and messaging frameworks
• Serve as a communications advisor to practice leaders, preparing spokespeople for media interactions and public appearances
• Coordinate cross-functionally with BM&C colleagues in digital, social, and internal communications to ensure message consistency
• Monitor industry news and competitive landscape to identify proactive storytelling opportunities
• Track, analyze, and report on earned media performance and communications outcomes
• Support thought leadership activations, conference participation, and executive visibility initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a closely related discipline
• Substantial experience in public relations or external communications, ideally with exposure to life sciences, healthcare, or professional services sectors
• Demonstrated track record in media relations — from crafting a pitch to landing coverage in top-tier outlets
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders
• Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
• Strategic thinker who can also execute at a detail level without dropping the ball
