Expert Hardware Test Engineer (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the advanced imaging technology sector, based in Munich. They are industrializing cutting-edge scanning solutions and applying AI to transform biological analysis across multiple industries. Our talent team is seeking an Expert Hardware Test Engineer to establish and lead their hardware validation function.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll define testing strategies, build quality frameworks, and ensure every mechanical, electrical, and mechatronic component meets rigorous standards before deployment.

Responsibilities

• Define, conduct, and document comprehensive hardware test strategies, protocols, and quality gates for automation systems and imaging units
• Create the appropriate in-house testing environments for subsystems and components
• Collaborate closely with MRI, mechatronics, compliance, software QA, supply chain, and field engineering teams
• Establish and own the Quality Management System (QMS) framework and testing processes
• Define and execute supplier testing strategies and protocols, including factory acceptance testing (FAT) and on-site manufacturing visits
• Build a long-term testing and quality strategy for complex systems, including team development and resource planning

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in hardware, reliability, mechatronics, or system-integration testing, with prior experience leading a testing team
• Proven track record establishing and enforcing quality and testing frameworks for complex systems
• Hands-on expertise with automation systems, sensors, actuators, oscilloscopes, or PLCs
• Demonstrated ability to set objective pass/fail criteria, perform root-cause analysis, and drive design improvements
• Experience writing clear, comprehensive test plans for electro-mechanical interfaces
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to transform ambiguous requirements into measurable metrics and repeatable test frameworks
• Proactive, curious, and passionate about sustainable, high-impact technology

Preferred qualifications: Background in food automation or medical device testing is a significant advantage.
